Originally from Jacksonville Florida, Elizabeth Barrett Hardwick attended Vanderbilt University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business. After completing her undergraduate studies, she moved to New York to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Immediately following her time at FIT, Barrett went to work for Saks Fifth Avenue, New York. For the next year she worked in the Saks Fifth Avenue buying program where she acquired valuable experience in all aspects of the retail world.
